Some 70 schools, on five continents, are members of the Round Square Conference −  named after the Round Square, one of the buildings at Gordonstoun where this association started. They follow the educational theories and methods of Kurt Hahn, the founder of Gordonstoun, who placed much importance on the value of outward bound and community service activities. Specifically, Round Square schools are based on: internationalism, democracy, environment, adventure, leadership and service (IDEALS).
