The exact definition of a public school is unclear. Usually it is used to refer to independent schools whose Heads are members of the HMC or GSA. Some boys’ public schools are enormously well endowed and can afford outstanding facilities. Public schools can be sub-divided into major and minor − depending on viewpoint and prejudices.
