Prof Sir Liam Donaldson, the Chief Medical Officer, said that in the worst affected areas there were so many swine flu cases that it was no longer useful to trace those who may have been affected or to close schools. He told the Telegraph "The judgment is that closing schools would not do much to stop the transmission of this disease."
