The Telegraph reports that up to a third of pupils are absent from some schools so pupils could miss out on vital revision. Dr Seldon, Master of Wellington College, is quote as saying that around 50% of the real learning takes place in the last four weeks before an exam; easily equal to the 25 weeks or so that goes before. The Joint Council for Qualifications says that scheduled GCSEs and A-levels – due to start on May 17 – could not be pushed back without causing chaos to university and college admissions. Exams in Scotland are due to start at the end of April.
