Top A-level pupils double
March 2010
The Telegraph reports new research which has found that one in six A-level pupils now achieves a hat-trick of A grades. Last year the number of A-level students awarded three A grades (or more) doubled in comparison with 1996 - 17.5 % compared with 8.8 % in 1996. A comparison between different kinds of school pupils shows 33% from independent school, 26% from grammar schools and only 8% from comprehensives achieved 3 or more A grades.
