Independent school, a thriving export
March 2010
The Times Educational Supplement (TES) reports on branded British independent school education overseas, which a growing number of schools is investing in. Haileybury was the first British independent school to export a "sister” school - Haileybury Almaty - to the Central Asian republic of Kazakhstan in 2008 and has been asked by the President to open another. Prestigious schools such as Dulwich College have had a presence in the Far East for a number of years and Harrow School in the guise of Harrow International operates in Bangkok and Beijing, with a third school in Hong Kong due soon.
