Malvern St James has launched a sixth form wine-tasting club, reports the Independent. Girls can join at 16 and it is a bid to wean them off binge drinking. the school is also setting up wine-tasting dinner parties with neighbouring boys' schools.

The brainchild of Rachel Huntley – who teaches critical thinking at the school – it is one of the most popular out-of-hours activities for students. Apparently it has become quite a selling point in encouraging girls to join the sixth-form.
