Abingdon School, a single sex boys' school in Oxfordshire, has broken with a 750-year tradiition by appointing a women as Headmistress reports the Times. Felicity Lusk is currently head of a distinguished girls' school, Oxford High School. Abingdon says the appointment does not mean that the school proposes to go co-ed, as so many other boys' independent schools have already done. The chairman of governors says Felicity Lusk is committed to single-sex education. " We had dozens of applicants and she was the outstanding one in a strong field".
